Credit: GettyRomee Strijd has taken to social media to reveal she won’t be walking in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
The 31-year-old Dutch model and former Victoria’s Secret Angel took to her TikTok on Monday (October 12) with two videos explaining that she was rejected after going through a casting process.
If you didn’t know, Romee walked in the show from 2014 to 2018. She was even chosen to wear the Shooting Star Swarovski look in the finale section of the show in 2018.

What Romee Strijd said about being turned down
In her first video, the model shared that she had avoided responding to questions asking if she would walk in this year’s show because it was “a question mark for me too.”
She said she went to New York City in September for casting after training in preparation over the summer as now felt like the right time to return to the VS runway after having two kids.
“I went to New York to do the casting because there’s a whole new team. I knew the casting director already. I knew a couple of people already from the shoot that I did with them, but, I don’t know, I still had to come in,” she explained.
Romee continued, “I thought I was gonna know soon after if I was gonna do the show or not, but I didn’t hear anything for weeks. And I think I was on some sort of maybe list. It’s Monday now, the show is on Sunday, and I still haven’t heard anything. So, I kept asking my agency for updates, but apparently I’m still on that maybe list. It’s already five weeks after the casting. So it’s been a little bit of a roller coaster mentally for me since I have to continue training but I’m not sure if I’m gonna do it.”
She noted that with her kids and her current life, it’s harder for her to find time to prepare, but she’s already put so much “time and energy” into it that she wishes she had more clarity.
“The show is on Sunday and they haven’t cancelled, they haven’t confirmed and I think it’s gonna be a no. But I also keep training and continue training cause you never know, like in fashion and in modelling, it’s all very last minute,” Romee shared. “I would love to, I’ve done everything I could. I went to the casting, I trained, and now it’s out of my hands.”

Romee Strijd said she’s fine with the rejection, but doesn’t feel supported by her agency
In a second video a couple of hours later, Romee shared that she had just talked to her modeling agency and revealed it’s a definitive no.
“It’s a no, which is fine, because rejection is part of modeling, and that’s totally fine,” she said in the second video.
She then continued to explain that while talking to her agency, she tried to ask why she didn’t book the show, but was just told, “they thought you wouldn’t fit in the show this year.”
Romee asked if there was a specific reason, because she would love more of an explanation as to why she didn’t get cast.
“She said, ‘You were already released,’ which is a completely different story than what they were telling me. The last couple weeks, I’ve been asking IMG to give me an update. Because for me, with two kids, a family to run, it takes up a lot of time,” the model said.
She shared that her agency said the casting director told her late last week that they “weren’t there yet” with her, and would let them know before the weekend.
“The whole story doesn’t sum up, which makes me feel even [more] horrible than not getting the show,” Romee continued. “I don’t feel supported by my agency. I don’t feel like I have the straight story. Just be honest, just tell me and I can go on with my life and let it go, because it’s fine. If it’s a chose a closed chapter, I just would love to know. And now they kept me in the dark, like, not knowing for so long that it that I got a lot of mental stress from it.”
She ended her video by saying she doesn’t think she’s going to go through casting again and thinks the show will be good.
“Either way, it’s a closed chapter and it’s probably gonna be a good show,” she said. “I don’t think I’m gonna cast anymore in the future ’cause I don’t like the way it went. I don’t like how the whole process went. I don’t like the way I was treated, and I would love to keep the positive memories, obviously.”
