Chicago Fire fans seem to be enjoying the storyline involving Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd, and their journey of becoming foster parents to Isaiah. By the looks of it, motherhood came naturally to Stella. Her recent actions in the drama series also prove that she is willing to go to great lengths for her loved ones. Why Stella is leaving and when will she return to Firehouse 51 on Chicago Fire?

Stella Kidd is leaving no stone unturned in becoming a doting mother to Isaiah, so much so that she’s temporarily leaving Firehouse 51 to get Isaiah’s mother, Shawna. In a selfless demonstration of her unconditional love and adoration for her foster son, Stella has decided to put her career on hold to support him and his mother. Shawna has been in long-term care following a car accident. However, she is now at risk of death due to negligence at her current facility.

After consulting with Chicago Med’s Goodwin about a better care facility for Isaiah’s mom, Stella informs her husband, Severide, about taking a few weeks off from Firehouse 51. Stella will be travelling to Cleveland to get Shawna admitted and settled in the new care facility.

The decision comes after Isaiah shared his concerns about his mother not receiving proper treatment at her current facility, St. John’s.

Severide and Stella tell their foster son that his doubts about St. John’s were true. The facility is indeed both understaffed and underfunded.

Giving Isaiah some much-needed assurance, the duo reveals that they found a better facility for his mother in Cleveland. Stella also informs Isaiah that she’ll accompany him to get his mother settled in the facility. The mother-son duo will meet new doctors to figure out a treatment plan for Shawna.

As for viewers wondering about her return, rest assured, as the Lieutenant’s exit from Firehouse 51 is a temporary one. Stella has promised her husband that she’ll be back in no time, before anyone even notices her absence. So, she should be expected to return soon.
