Johnny and Chanel are now putting the fight to adopt a baby on Days of Our Lives behind them as the plot comes to a close.

This was a long, tangled, and emotional storyline. It all started with a shocking pregnancy reveal in 2024. It developed into a foster care journey, and also saw Johnny’s crisis over his origin and DNA surprises. Right now, all of it ended in a heartfelt handoff. It let everyone who was involved say goodbye on a hopeful note.

How does Johnny & Chanel’s custody plot end in Days of Our Lives?

Baby Tesoro on Days of Our Lives was with the Hernandez family under foster care before being adopted by Johnny and Chanel. The two had been trying to become legal guardians since Sophia had given birth.

In the November 5 episode of the show, the foster parents, Rafe and Gabi, prepare a bag for Tesoro. They express their feelings about letting him go after being with the child for quite some time.

As for Johnny and Chanel, they finalize the adoption of Tesoro at Belle’s office on DOOL. They then drive to Horton Town Square to meet the Hernandez family for the handover. In a heartfelt moment, Johnny asks Rafe to be the baby’s grandfather instead of EJ.

Chanel then invited Javi and Leo to be Tesoro’s godparents. Both of these requests were accepted. Marlena, who would be the baby’s great-grandmother, decided it was too long a name and thus claimed that she would go by “GG” instead.

The couple then renamed the baby and decided to call him ‘Baby T’ instead. The ‘T’ stands for Trey, making him John III. He was hoping that the legacy of the name would inspire the child to be a better man.

However, there were some loose ends in the story. While the adoption papers were being signed, EJ was not present. Given that everyone was distracted, he was seen getting a mysterious piece of equipment from a secure part of the clinic. It will be interesting to see how this story pans out in the future episodes.
