The Chicks hit the stage with a message to Donald Trump at their election night concert on Tuesday (November 3) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The trio – Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, and Emily Strayer – were set to perform their final show of the Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour that night, but the day before, rescheduled the second-to-last concert for Wednesday (November 4).
As they took to the stage to perform, they welcomed fans to the concert and unfolded fans reading “F*** Trump” and celebrated the Democrats sweeping elections across the US that day.
“Hello, Los Angeles,” Natalie said as the trio showed off the fans to cheers from the crowd. “Welcome to our blunami night. So glad we could enjoy this night together.”
“She then celebrated, “Texas is blue, the Senate is blue, the house is blue. This was gonna be a very different night if that wasn’t the case.”
The “blunami” is in reference to the projected blue tsunami, with Democrats being projected to take control of both the House and the Senate after the midterm elections.
During the concert, The Chicks performed their Grammy Award-winning hit song, “Not Ready to Make Nice,” which, of course, was the first single from their Taking the Long Way album.
The 2006 LP won five Grammys in 2007: Album of the Year and Best Country Album, while the song picked up Record of the Year, Song of the year, and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
Of course, The Chicks have been very vocally against Donald Trump and the Republican party for years. Back in May, Natalie went viral for an anti-Trump rant.
