Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release date for Task: The Complete First Season, which seemingly hints at the studio’s plan for the future of the Mark Ruffalo-led crime drama series. This comes over a week since the first season had concluded its 7-episode run on HBO.

In a previous interview, creator Brad Ingelsby confirmed that he’s open to the possibility of doing another season of Task if given the chance. “If people respond to Task and keep responding to Task, I’d love to tell more stories about this place, because I love writing about this place.” He said. “I do feel like I have more stories to tell.”

When is the Blu-ray release date for Task Season 1?

The first season of Task will be available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD starting on April 21, 2026. The home video release will also include behind-the-scenes content for each episode. Since its debut, the show has scored a Certified Fresh rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 79 reviews.

Task is created, written, and executive produced by showrunner Brad Ingelsby. Season 1 also starred Tom Pelphrey, Emilia Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Raúl Castillo, Sam Keeley, Jamie McShane, Alison Oliver, Silvia Dionicio, Phoebe Fox, Martha Plimpton, Owen Teague, Margarita Levieva, Mireille Enos, and more. It is executive produced by Ruffalo, Jeremiah Zagar, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Mark Roybal, Paul Lee, David Crockett, Ron Schmidt, Nicole Jordan-Webber, and Jeremy Yaches.

“Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Pelphrey),” reads the synopsis.

This marks Ruffalo’s latest collaboration with HBO, after previously starring in the acclaimed miniseries I Know This Much Is True in 2020, which won him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor. Besides the HBO show, Ruffalo will also next be seen in the Crime 101 movie with Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, and in Tom Holland’s highly anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
