Justin and Hailey Bieber stepped out for lunch in West Hollywood in their usual fashion-forward style on Friday, December 19, just six days before Christmas.
But it was their uncommunicative silence that seemed to spoil the holiday mood and lent credence to all that talk of trouble in their marriage earlier this year.
Hailey, 29, covered up in an oversized black coat, baggy gray pants, and a beige top. Nondescript black shoes and dark shades finished off the ensemble.
She was seen crossing the street clutching a large tote bag while her husband of seven years trailed closely at her heels.
Justin, 31 - who has sparked concern among fans over his well-being in recent months - was sporting very baggy shorts, a gray hoodie and comfy shoes with white crew socks.
Neither appeared to say a word to the other as they climbed into a waiting car with a bodyguard.

The lunch outing comes just hours after they were spotted arriving for a holiday party at Beverly Hills’ Funke restaurant on Thursday night looking equally taciturn but stylish.
On that occasion, Justin was his usual skater-chic self while clad in a black leather jacket, a red shirt and baggy dark blue jeans rolled up at the hem. Plain black shoes and high-fashion shades completed his look.
Hailey was wearing a black semi-crop top that allowed a glimpse of her toned abs, and blue jeans and a stylish black jacket featuring a cow-print fleece collar.
The Rhode Skin founder wore black, peep-toe heels and also hid her eyes behind a pair of dark, slim sunglasses.
The couple, who first tied the knot at a New York City courthouse in 2018, followed by a large, more traditional wedding ceremony in 2019, were beset by rumors of marital strife during the first half of the year.
In July, Justin broke his silence on the speculation with his album Swag, laying bare their relationship struggles in emotional lyrics about 'testing patience' and 'taking a break' – while also categorically declaring he 'will not' leave her.
In November, Hailey told GQ magazine that she takes the relationship 'a day at a time.'
The model also said that though she knows their marriage and all their struggles are very public, she is 'comfortable' with the way it is going.

'We're just taking it a day at a time,' she shared.
Hailey and Justin became first-time parents with the arrival of their son, Jack Blues, in August 2023.
She continued: 'We both feel very protective of our son and I don't think that's ever going to change, but our life is our life and it is really public, so I think we're just going to cross every bridge that we need to when we get there.
'But as of right now, I feel really comfortable about the way we are sharing things and not sharing things.'
