Almost one year has passed since Genshin Impact's launch and there have been seven major updates until now and many smaller ones. With 2.1 releasing soon, it is a great chance to look back on some of the game's most major changes so far.

While some of them focused on time-limited events that may or may not come back to the game ever again, others have added permanent features that have significantly changed the game. From new characters and permanent maps to significant gameplay feature changes, Genshin Impact has received some major changes since its launch.

10 Max Resin Increase

One of the most important changes in Genshin Impact happened during the 1.1 update. Specifically, the maximum Resin that players could get increased from 120 to 160.

Although not as many players were into the game back then, everyone can appreciate this change. With all the potential ways that players can spend their Resin, playing now with only a maximum of 120 feels straight-up impossible. That's two fewer Ley lines and domains, or one less world boss per day.

9 Inazuma

Genshin Impact Gardening Changes Inazuma 2.0

The latest 2.0 update introduced Inazuma, a new region that's different from all others. It is Teyvat's third nation and comes with its own great storyline that follows up from the events in Liyue.

Similar to the other regions, it brings its own Domains and unique equipment. In addition, it includes multiple new world quests and events that players can enjoy. In short, Inazuma, when considering the content that has been added, is one of the largest updates in Genshin Impact's history.

8 Eula

Genshin Impact Eula and Amber

One of the best characters in the game added with the 1.5 update is Eula, and her addition significantly changed the meta. As one of the best, if not the best Cryo DPS characters, fans were excited for the chance to have her in their party.

Her most unique feature, other than her great damage, is that despite being a claymore user, she has high attack speed. Ever since Eula was released, she has been a fan favorite.

7 Dragonspine

Dragonspine was a unique addition added in the 1.2 update. It introduced the new mechanics of the subzero climate and the frost-bearing tree, while also adding new quests and events.

Although the Dragonspine region and the cold weather mechanics ended up being slightly frustrating to many players, it still remains one of the biggest changes since launch. Its main aspect is that it wasn't an event area and has remained in the game since.

6 City Reputation

The system of city reputation was released with the 1.1 update and it has been a great addition to Genshin Impact. It features some extra tasks in the form of quests, bounties, and requests that help the player level increase their reputation in each of the game's main cities.

The main feature is that each level of reputation also comes with great rewards, the most notable being the map info that shows players all mining locations and Liyue's Geo compass, which locates nearby chests.

5 Zhongli

Zhongli was one of the most hyped characters in the game, especially when the storyline revealed that he was actually Red Lapis.

His playable character was released in 1.1 and it really fits his story background, as he features very high damage, great attack range, and most importantly, amazing talents. His elemental burst looks especially great and fans were excited to finally be able to have Zhongli on their team.

4 Serenitea Pot

Genshin Impact 1.6 Housing System and Serenitea Pot Changes

The Serenitea Pot has been one of the most major additions in Genshin Impact, as it includes the player's own customizable house. The player is free to decorate the inside and outside of their house as they please, thus allowing for some creative designs.

In addition, the house also has some useful functions, like its own forge, alchemy stand, and cooking station. This has been one of the best additions since launch, as it provides players with a large amount of new content.

3 Outfits

One of the features that fans have requested the most is character outfits, which finally got released in the 1.6 update. These add a new twist to the game and allow players to show their support for their favorite characters.

Although only two outfits have been released so far, fans are hyped and are asking for more. With such demand, Mihoyo is expected to release more outfits soon.

2 Expedition Partners Can Be Used In Party

Genshin Impact Keeps Adding Character Banner Reruns

It's taken for granted nowadays that players can freely use partners while they're sent on expeditions. Nevertheless, before the 1.1 update, that wasn't the case.

This was extremely frustrating, especially during the early adventure ranks where the player didn't have extra characters to spare. Veteran players are thankful for this change, as it considerably improved the early game experience.

1 New Food

Genshin Impact Background Food

Food is a major feature in Genshin Impact since it can heal, revive, or even buff the player's characters. Throughout the game's history, almost every update has added new food, and many of the new additions either enhance the new gameplay mechanics or are improvements to the previous options.

For instance, Goulash fits perfectly with Dragonspine's cold-weather mechanics, while Universal Peace is one of the best healing recipes.
