American Idol season 24 premiered on January 26, 2026. The premiere episode featured an on-screen graphic that read, “Season 24 of American Idol: Dedicated to Robin Kaye.” The tribute message added, “We’ll save you a seat.”

Robin Kaye was a pivotal part of American Idol for over a decade. Kaye served as the show’s music supervisor, a role she took on in season 8. For over 16 years, Kaye stayed on in this role, making her one of the most iconic figures in the history of American Idol.

Apart from American Idol, Kaye is also credited as the music supervisor for the NAACP Image Awards and several Miss Universe pageants.

Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Monday, July 15, 2025, when officers conducted a welfare check. They had allegedly suffered from gunshot wounds.

The police were soon able to single out a suspect. Raymond Boodarian, a 22-year-old, has been arrested in connection with the double murder. As of now, Boodarin faces multiple charges, and if convicted, he faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or death.

At the time of the deaths, a spokesperson for American Idol said, “We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing.” The statement further added (via USA Today), “Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.
