A new Absolute Batman #14 variant cover showcases the fresh redesign of Harley Quinn, one of the most iconic members of the Caped Crusader’s rogues’ gallery. Published by DC Comics, Absolute Batman is a superhero comic book series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. It’s the first entry in DC’s Absolute Universe imprint, which now includes Absolute Wonder Woman, Absolute Superman, Absolute Flash, and Absolute Green Lantern comic books.

Absolute Harley Quinn featured in Absolute Batman #14 variant cover

Absolute Harley Quinn takes the center stage in the variant cover for Absolute Batman #14. The said cover, by artist Derrick Chew, accentuates a core theme about the Absolute Universe. It denotes how these characters are strikingly different from their regular counterparts.

Notably, unlike most characters in the superhero genre, Harley Quinn didn’t originate in comic books. Instead, she first appeared in Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski’s iconic Batman: The Animated Series.

Arleen Sorkin voiced the character and subsequently reprised the role in various other projects in the DC Animated Universe. In the years that followed, Harley has become an undeniable part of DC Comics and associated projects, appearing in video games, live-action movies, and more.

In the Absolute Universe redesign, Harley Quinn has close-cropped hair and a set of nunchucks. The character made her first appearance in the Absolute Universe in the previous issue (#13) of Absolute Batman. Absolute Harley is the leader of the Red Hood gang and seems to have devoted herself to bringing down this universe’s rendition of the Joker.

This is also a departure for Harley, as in many continuities, she is a close aide or sidekick of the Joker. Since she leads the Red Hood gang, she might become a close associate of Batman in the future. Accordingly, as the series has seemingly teased, Dick Grayson can become the Joker’s partner.

Absolute Batman #14 debuts on November 26, 2025.
