Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJames Gunn is teasing the DCU arrival of a major Wonder Woman character.
Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU officially kicked off in December 2024 with Creature Commandos. Now, DC fans only have to wait a couple of weeks until Gunn’s Superman movie flies into theaters, while there are many more DCU projects planned beyond that.
One of these projects is Wonder Woman, as Gunn confirmed earlier this month that a movie centered around Diana Prince is currently being written.
What Wonder Woman character is James Gunn teasing the DCU arrival of?
Speaking with Pay or Wait, Gunn was asked if there are any plans to give Nubia a storyline within the DCU.
Gunn answered, “I’m very aware of Nubia. Yes, we are very much talking about that. I want to have all sorts of people represented in the DCU. And, yeah, you might be happy in the not-too-distant future.”
Created by Robert Kanigher and Don Heck, Nubia first appeared in 1973’s Wonder Woman #204. She is DC’s first Black female superhero and was originally introduced as Diana’s long-lost paternal twin sister. In recent years in DC Comics continuity, Nubia has become Queen of the Amazons.
Nubia’s DCU introduction will likely happen in the aforementioned Wonder Woman movie; however, there is another Wonder Woman project that is also in development, Paradise Lost. Originally announced in January 2023, Paradise Lost will be a television series that takes place on the island of Themyscira and will be set before the birth of Diana. A premiere date for that show has not yet been announced.
The Wonder Woman movie also does not have a release date at this time. No casting has yet been announced.
Superman, meanwhile, flies into United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios.
