Orgo-Life the new way to the future

The Boys‘ creator has weighed in on one of the biggest lingering questions about Starlight. Eric Kripke explained exactly what fans can expect regarding the future of a yet-to-be-born character.

Eric Kripke answers if Hughie and Starlight’s child will have powers

The Boys Season 5 finale jumps months ahead after Homelander’s defeat and Butcher’s death. Hughie and Starlight have opened an audiovisual store together, and Annie is still fighting crime as a superhero. The final scenes reveal she’s pregnant, and the couple names their baby Robin, honoring Hughie’s ex-girlfriend.

Kripke addressed what baby Robin’s future holds, citing the biological rules governing Supes. “The only born superhero is Ryan. Everyone else has to be injected,” Kripke explained to Screen Rant. He added, “I’d like to think that they’ve learned their lesson and they’re going to give baby Robin a happy normal life.”

This means Hughie and Starlight’s child won’t inherit the latter’s light-manipulation abilities or any other powers. The couple’s choice reflects their entire journey. Hughie even turned down a job from President Bob Singer, who wanted him to lead a new task force policing Supes. Instead, he chose a quieter life with Annie, contributing to the world without the violence that defined their past.

Raising a non-powered child fits perfectly with that decision. The couple spent years witnessing what Compound V does to people. They watched friends die, saw Homelander’s madness up close, and barely survived themselves. Injecting their daughter with the same substance would contradict everything they fought for.

That said, the franchise continues expanding. The Boys: Mexico and Vaught Rising are happening, and Kripke hinted at more stories in this universe. If Hughie or Annie show up in future projects, they will appear as parents to an ordinary child. Kripke drew a hard line on the biology of his world.
