Fans of The Young and the Restless have had strong opinions on how Connor Newman’s OCD is depicted in the CBS soap opera. Now, many have taken to social media to criticize this aspect of their favorite show.

Why are fans criticizing Connor’s OCD portrayal in The Young and the Restless?

Some fans are angry at how Connor’s obsessive-compulsive behavior is portrayed in The Young and the Restless. The January 14, 2025, episode of the show focuses on the personal and professional issues of various characters in the show. When the spotlight shines on Connor, it underscores his struggles with the disorder.

However, after the episode aired, many fans expressed frustration on various social media platforms about the show’s depiction of the condition. An X (formerly, Twitter) user with the handle @KataraStormwild, called the storyline “tiresome.” The fan wrote, “Am I the only one who finds this Connor OCD story tiresome? Enough already – it’s so boring. If they want chadam together then just do it; enough with the boring light switches/sweaters/buttons stuff!”

In the comment section of @KataraStormwild, another user, @EgheU, agreed with the former’s sentiments and posted, “The Connor OCD story is like beating a dead horse. It’s exhausting and boring.”

Connor’s struggles with the condition have been part of The Young and the Restless narrative for a while and always appear to have divided the fans. In May 2024, @niki_smith1 posted on X, “This is making me realize why the current OCD storyline doesn’t really work for me. Even if the actual conflict is with the adults, Connor should be dealing with it at home and not relegated to infrequent zoom calls.”

Conversely, some fans have praised the storyline. @KingMinos777 posted in March 2024, “Connor’s OCD was ‘turnt up’ today. Difficult to watch but factual depiction.”

Notably, the term “chadam” refers to the relationship between Adam Newman and Chelsea Lawson Newman, Connor’s parents. They are no longer married, but several fans seemingly believe that the OCD storyline was introduced to eventually reunite Adam and Chelsea.
