Jade’s hallucinations in From Season 4 Episode 5 ending explained
Jade’s experience in the final moments of From Season 4 Episode 5 is one of the show’s most disturbing and revealing visions to date. It hinted at significant revelations about Fromville’s sinister past and Jade’s mysterious link to it.
Throughout the episode, Jade experiences a troubling hallucination after consuming the mushrooms intended to help him reveal concealed truths about the town. It began with his vision, where he encountered his younger self playing the violin and meeting him in the forest with Boyd, who served as his anchor for this experience. He then follows young Jade and witnesses various versions of himself existing across multiple timelines. This implies that he may have endured the terrors of Fromville numerous times previously.
He even realizes, while observing his different selves, how he met his demise—not by being torn apart or devoured, but through murder, as his conversation with young Jade leads him to understand that townspeople kill him in every timeline once they uncover his true identity. The sequence also takes him beneath Colony House, where he uncovers a concealed underground chamber linked to the unsettling children.
The vision in Episode 5’s ending takes a chilling turn as Jade’s visions lead him to discover bones, stone slabs, and what seems to be a site of sacrifice. He then sees monsters pushing him into a grave-like pit, where one of the spectral children sits, whispering. This terrifies and shocks him awake from his hallucination.
This scene, however, strongly suggests that the children might have been sacrificed long ago. This indicates that the town’s deadly cycle has been repeating for generations. Jade wakes up at the sheriff’s station, with Boyd standing behind him. He tells him he never really left the station. He realizes that the journey was not a physical reality, but his vision (thanks to the mushrooms that finally worked).
Jade then tells Boyd that he has finally grasped the truth about Fromville. As such, he believes he may now know how to rescue the children and break free from the nightmare entirely.
