Vanessa Bryant makes donation to LA Fire Relief

Philanthropist Vanessa Bryant is doing her bit in supporting the LA community as many cope with losing their homes in the LA fire. The model, a part of the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, donated over 8,000 pieces of apparel and sneakers. Bryant posted photos and clips from the donation program on Instagram, thanking those who came forward to help the LA community rebuild.

The 42-year-old mother of four wrote, “Today, @MambaMambacitaSports took our first step in supporting children and families that had to evacuate their homes due to the LA fires.” She further expressed her gratitude to “our family, friends and new friends that helped distribute apparel and sneakers today!” The post further reads, “We couldn’t have done this without you. There’s a long road to recovery ahead of us, so stay tuned for our ongoing efforts to help LA rebuild.”

Bryant’s philanthropic journey began way back in 2007 when she founded the VIVO Foundation with her late husband, Kobe Bryant. The foundation, later renamed the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Foundation, provides scholarships for minority college students and global youth worldwide.

Later, Vanessa also became the founding donor of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. After the devastating death of Kobe Bryant and her second daughter, Gianna, Vanessa decided to rename the retired basketball player’s charity, Mamba Sports Foundation. The new name Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation honored her late daughter’s legacy.

She also started the Mambacita line of clothing to honor her daughter. The partnership was a collaboration with another female-owned brand, Dannijo. Vanessa disclosed that all proceeds from the clothing line would aid the Mambacita Sports Foundation.

Along with her social work, Vanessa also leads Granity Studios, the content company that was Kobe’s vision. Under Granity Studios, eight of Kobe’s books have been released. The company also runs The Punies, a podcast created by Kobe.
