On Sunday, February 22, the US hockey team made history by winning the gold medal with a 2–1 victory over Canada at the ongoing 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, Italy. This was the country’s first gold medal since 1980. While the US team celebrated their win, the fans of both teams took to social media to troll Stranger Things alum Noah Schnapp.

For context, Schnapp, who was born in New York City, was seen at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena, wearing Team Canada’s red jersey. He was rooting for the team alongside his father, Mitchell Schnapp. This appeared to have irked some viewers.

Fans of the US team have criticized the actor for supporting Canada despite being born in the United States. One user posted, “He is exactly what is wrong with the US.”
