A brand new Toy Story 5 trailer is out for Pixar’s latest movie. Despite some mixed feelings early on, even skeptical fans seem to be ready for the next entry in the hit franchise.

Toy Story 5 is set to release in theaters on June 19, 2026. The movie is directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and Kenna Harris, with Lindsey Collins serving as a producer. The fifth entry in the iconic franchise features the voices of Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Greta Lee as Lilypad, Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants, and Tony Hale as Forky. Joining them are John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, Jeff Bergman as Mr. Potato Head, Anna Vocino as Mrs. Potato Head, Annie Potts as Bo Peep, and more.

“The toys are back, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today….electronics,” reads the official synopsis of the movie.

Toy Story 5 trailer review

The new look at Toy Story 5 once again takes us once puts the full highlight on the battle of the iconic toys against the advent of technology. The movie will largely see Woody and Buzz leading the rest of the toys as they go up against a new handheld device that quickly becomes the hot new toy. While many were wondering why we needed another sequel, the trailers for the movie have sold the next entry.

Every trailer released so far has captured the vibe and feel of the original movies, with a ton of humor throughout. Furthermore, the story about the characters all having to combat the advancement of technology is a prescient one. Not only are many bucking back against the trend of the rise of AI, but everyone who grew up over the past 20-30 years has had the feeling of picking a piece of technology over a toy at one point or another.

A fifth Toy Story may have seemed like overkill, and may still seem that way to some. However, it seems like Pixar is keenly aware of how important their original franchise is, and have treated it with the utmost care it deserves.
