ComingSoon has an exclusive preview of the first issue in AHOY Comics’ new The Toxic Avenger series.

The Toxic Avenger is a new ongoing series that comes from writer Matt Bors. The first issue features art by Fred Harper, with each issue of the series’ first story arc being illustrated by a different artist so that it will showcase a different genre.

What is the new Toxic Avenger series about?

The solicitation for the first issue reads, “You demanded it, so here it is: a new ONGOING series featuring the movies’ grossest hero, masterminded by the hit creative team from 2024’s TOXIC AVENGER miniseries! In this issue’s self-contained horror story, kids are disappearing from Toxie’s hometown of Tromaville, NJ. Did they simply run away from the chemically polluted town? Or is the real explanation even more frightening? Find out before the new TOXIE film hits theaters, THIS SUMMER!

Bors said in a statement, “When I first approached Lloyd Kaufman and Troma about reviving the Toxic Avenger in comics, I wasn’t modest. I pitched a new origin, outrageous new characters, and a fully mapped-out, mopped-up, multi-year storyline. Now, Fred Harper and I have been given the green light to go f—ing nuts.

AHOY Comics is planning a whole Toxic Mess Summer, which kicked off in April with a The Toxic Avenger trade paperback. That was followed by a The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special in May and a Toxie Team-Up miniseries in June. The latter of those projects sees Toxie interact with characters such as Jesus Christ, Acid Chimp, and more. Meanwhile, the new Toxic Avenger movie starring Peter Dinklage and Elijah Wood hits United States theaters on August 29, 2025.
