Plenty of super popular films over the years have been able to crack a billion at the theater, but that doesn't always mean they deserved to.

Sometimes audiences flock to theaters for a specific film out of cultural hype or plain-old curiosity; other times they're drawn in by nostalgia or dragged along by friends or family.

According to voting audiences on Ranker, a sold handful of the most popular movies of all time are simply not as good as their box offices numbers might lead you to believe.

From shrug-inducing animated juggernauts to disappointing sequels and remakes that simply didn't need to be made, these movies made lots of money, but that doesn't necessarily mean they were good or have stood the test of time in the years since their release.
