Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe most recent appearance of The Watcher has effectively turned the entity into the Stan Lee of Marvel Animation. Lee made cameo appearances in multiple Marvel projects until his passing in 2018. Meanwhile, The Watcher was previously seen in What If…?, I Am Groot, What If…? – An Immersive Story, X-Men ’97, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Eyes of Wakanda. And now, fans have spotted the character in Marvel Zombies.
Did you notice The Watcher’s latest cameo in Marvel Zombies?
Several fans spotted The Watcher in Marvel Zombies and took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss it. One fan, @syriangeekvibes, shared a screenshot of Marvel Zombies that shows The Watcher in the background, keeping an eye on everything that unfolds. They wrote in the caption, “How many of yall noticed The Watcher in #MarvelZombies ???”
Further, @MCUReport posted a collage of The Watcher’s appearances across Marvel’s animated projects, writing in the caption, “The Watcher sees all.”
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the name “The Watcher” generally refers to one member of that fictional extraterrestrial race, Uatu. Jeffrey Wright voiced the character in What If…? and I Am Groot, even serving as the narrator of the former show. However, Amuche Chukudebelu lent his voice to the character in What If…? – An Immersive Story. The character reportedly made non-speaking cameos in the rest of the above-mentioned shows, including Marvel Zombies.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Uatu made his first comic-book appearance in The Fantastic Four #13. Since then, the character has become a prominent part of the Marvel lore and has appeared in video games and even pre-MCU animated shows.
Uatu’s presence in the Marvel projects likely underscores his importance in the overarching narratives of these stories and indicates how they are intertwined. As more animated shows come out, we will probably have a better understanding of this.
