Sofiane Sylve Appointed Artist-in-Residence

Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced the 2025/26 season dancer roster. Joining the company this season are three new Principal Dancers Chase O’ConnellBeckanne Sisk and Agnes Su, as previously announced, and two new Corps de Ballet members Chase Hanson who joins from Kansas City Ballet and Ana Zamorawho was promoted from the RBC Apprentice Programme, as well as six new RBC Apprentices.  

“It’s a true pleasure to begin the 2025/26 season by welcoming five new company members and six RBC Apprentices to The National Ballet of Canada. These remarkable artists join us from across Canada, US, Europe, Japan, South Korea and Cuba, bringing with them a wide range of experiences, fresh perspectives and exceptional skill. I am eager to see how they will contribute to our artistic identity,” said Muir. “I am also thrilled to welcome the brilliant Sofiane Sylve as our new Artist-in-Residence. With an extraordinary career as both a performer and artistic leader, Sofiane will provide invaluable mentorship to our dancers.”

New Artist-in Residence 

Sofiane Sylve joins the National Ballet as Artist-in-Residence. Sylve is an internationally renowned artist whose career spans principal roles with the Dutch National Ballet, New York City Ballet and San Francisco Ballet. As a celebrated dancer and artistic director, Sofiane brings a wealth of experience in performance, leadership, and mentorship to her new role with the National Ballet.

As previously announced, six dancers were promoted in the 2025/26 season: Larkin Millerto Principal Dancer, Peng-Fei Jiang to First Soloist and Monika Haczkiewicz, Isabella KinchErica Lall and David Preciado to Second Soloist.
