Catherine O’Hara is teasing her upcoming role in The Last of Us Season 2.

Based on the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us premiered on HBO in January 2023. The series is created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and stars Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

A second season of The Last of Us is scheduled to premiere in the coming months. O’Hara has been cast in the new season and, based on the previously released trailer, it appears she’s playing some sort of therapist figure who works with Joel; however, her role is largely shrouded in mystery.

What did Catherine O’Hara say about The Last of Us Season 2?

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, O’Hara said that her The Last of Us Season 2 character has an “odd relationship” with Joel.

“You don’t quite know why she’s got…well, she’s got this edge to her, but it makes for some weird, good dark comedy, I think,” she said. “So it’s there. I never want to deny the gift of humor.”

O’Hara also teased that The Last of Us Season 2 is “way more intense if you know the game.”

She continued, “I just love working with Pedro Pascal. Both of them. Bella. Wow. Was that intimating? It always is. It’s not my territory…You’re just like, thank you for inviting me and I’ll try to be a good guest. But they were very kind to me and it was great.”

The Last of Us Season 2 also stars Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon, among others.

The Last of Us Season 2 will premiere on HBO and Max in April 2025.
