The Holiday is heading back to movie theaters just in time for Christmas!

The beloved romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black is returning to the big screen to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Sony Pictures announced on Wednesday (October 21) that the 2006 movie will be re-released in theaters beginning Friday, December 11, 2026, through Fathom Entertainment, according to UPI.

The movie originally premiered in theaters on December 8, 2006, and has since become a holiday favorite.

When Is The Holiday Returning to Theaters?

The Holiday will return to participating movie theaters on Friday, December 11, 2026.

The 20th anniversary release comes just three days after the movie’s original theatrical release date.

The special engagement is being distributed through Fathom Entertainment. Theaters and showtimes may vary by location.

Fans can check AMC Theatres’ 20th anniversary listing for screening information as it becomes available.

The movie was written and directed by Nancy Meyers, who is also known for The Parent Trap, Something’s Gotta Give and It’s Complicated.

What Is The Holiday About?

The movie follows Amanda (Diaz), a Los Angeles woman, and Iris (Winslet), who lives in England.

After experiencing relationship troubles, the two women decide to swap homes for the Christmas holiday.

Amanda travels to the English countryside, where she meets Graham (Law), while Iris stays at Amanda’s Los Angeles home and develops a connection with Miles (Black).

The cast also includes Eli Wallach, Rufus Sewell, Edward Burns and Shannyn Sossamon.

Over the years, the movie has remained a holiday favorite, with fans continuing to revisit its characters and memorable locations.

Jude even surprised fans in 2024 when he revealed that the picturesque English cottage featured in the movie was actually built for filming rather than being a real home.

Where Can You Watch The Holiday on Streaming?

If you don’t want to wait until December, The Holiday is currently available to stream on Hulu in the United States.

You can watch it through the movie’s official Hulu streaming page with an eligible subscription.

The film is also available to rent or purchase through digital retailers, including Apple TV and Prime Video.

Streaming availability may change before the movie returns to theaters in December.

The anniversary release is a chance to revisit the original movie on the big screen. It is not a sequel.

Back in 2022, Nancy addressed rumors about a possible The Holiday sequel and denied that the reported follow-up was happening.
