Oscars 2025: Sebastian Stan’s Mom is Mad at Him for This Hilarious Reason
Sebastian Stan’s mom wishes he looked like a different man at the 97th Academy Awards.
Indeed, Georgeta Orlovsch, who The Apprentice star brought along as his plus one on the Oscars 2025 red carpet, detailed why she wasn’t thrilled with his look for the evening.
“She was very upset I didn’t shave tonight,” the actor admitted to Zuri Hall during the Live From E! The Oscars red carpet outside Dolby Theatre March 2. “So when I told her I can’t because I have to do this other role—she was preferring I didn’t have the beard.” (See every star on the red carpet here.)
Of course, Georgeta—who immigrated to the United States with her son from Romania in the 1990s—also couldn’t help but gush over her son amid his nomination for Best Actor alongside A Complete Unknown’s Timothée Chalamet, The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody, Conclave’s Ralph Fiennes and Sing Sing’s Colman Domingo.
“He works very hard so he deserves the best,” Georgeta gushed over Sebastian, “and I can’t be more proud. He is adorable.”
Meanwhile, Sebastian—who stars in not only The Apprentice, for which he earned his Best Actor nod, but also A Different Man, which is up for an award for Best Makeup—couldn’t believe he’d earned his first nomination.
“It’s surreal,” he emphasized. “I’m just so happy to be here with her because you don’t ever really think this is going to happen. You watch it on TV and you grow up with Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino and Denzel [Washington] and all these people so the fact that we’re here is amazing.”

Sebastian, who began his career in 1994 before landing his first big role on Gossip Girl where he played Upper East Side socialite Carter Baizen, gushed of bringing his mom along as his date, “It’s been a long time coming but I had to have her here with me.”
As the mother-son duo completed their appearance on the red carpet, Sebastian adorably planted a kiss on Georgeta’s cheek. Keep reading for more sweet moments on the red carpet…
