Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe seventh episode of The Boys Season 5 featured one of the show’s most heartbreaking scenes, but chose not to show certain details. While The Boys’ penultimate episode ended with the death of Frenchie at the hands of Homelander, it skipped over the final confrontation between the two. In a recent interview, actor Tomer Capone spoke about what viewers didn’t see from that scene.
Tomer Capone breaks down Frenchie’s scene with Homelander in The Boys Season 5
While speaking with Variety, Tomer Capone asked if there was any footage from the final scene between Frenchie and Antony Starr’s Homelander in The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 that fans didn’t get to see. The actor’s response seems to confirm that there’s no missing footage of Homelander attacking Frenchie by design.
“Honest answer: We were dancing between takes,” Capone noted. “Listen, the scene is dark. We had to keep it light. Antony and I are very good friends. I won’t lie, it was a lot of fun behind the scenes. When they yelled ‘Action,’ we got in character and did what we had to do. So we kept it light and danced, and I think they have footage of that. It’s gonna come out, I bet.”
When asked if the two danced to music, Capone replied, “We sang. I gave him French songs. I think he did some Frank Sinatra stuff. We kept it light.”
In the seventh episode of The Boys Season 5, Homelander arrives at the gang’s hideout, forcing Frenchie, Kimiko, and Sister Sage to look for cover. However, with Homelander narrowing down on his friends’ location, Frenchie sacrifices himself by drawing Homelander’s attention.
The two share one last exchange before the scene cuts to a trail of blood and the Frenchman lying on the floor. While viewers don’t get to see Homelander attack Frenchie, they do witness his death when he breathes his last in Kimiko’s arms.
The actor also said about the filming of the scene, “We got there super, super late. It was almost dawn.” He added that, “The trail of blood was probably the hardest thing in terms of continuity,” and that it took “a couple of times.” But he stressed that everyone was “so in tune with what we needed to accomplish,” implying that the scene plays out exactly as the show’s creators had intended.
