Martha Plimpton says ‘maybe we’ll find out’ what happens to Kathleen after Task

In a recent interview with Collider, Martha Plimpton reflected on the future of her character Kathleen McGinty following the events of HBO’s Task. When asked what Kathleen might do after retiring from the FBI, Plimpton admitted that she is not sure. However, the actress teased, “Maybe we’ll find out.”

When asked about what she thinks McGinty will do in retirement, the actress spoke about the realities faced by FBI agents upon retirement, noting that many shift into private security or consulting roles. She said, “A lot of these people who do this work and then go into retirement will go into private security, or they’ll go into security consulting. That’s very common because 57 is a young age to retire.”

Plimpton also noted the relatively modest pay within the FBI. She said, “By the way, you’re also not making a ton of money in the FBI. You’re not making six figures, even at retirement age. You’ve got to make a living.” The actress also emphasized that many retired agents end up earning more post-retirement.

Plimpton also suggested that McGinty’s adjustment might not be easy. She said, “Kathleen is probably, on some level, flailing because I don’t think she’s thought about it, honestly.” She also delved into the challenges faced by women working in such a demanding field.

The actress added, “You have so many elements of resistance coming at you, all the time. There are always questions about your competency, questions about your ability, questions about your emotional ability, and all of that stuff.”
