Lionsgate has just added a rising star from the Off Campus series to its upcoming psychological thriller The Housemaid’s Secret. Starring Sydney Sweeney, the movie serves as a sequel to 2025’s The Housemaid, led by Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.

Stephen Kalyn, who made his breakthrough with his role in Off Campus, has joined the sequel. According to the official announcement, Kalyn will play Brock, a handsome lawyer who becomes connected to Millie (Sydney Sweeney) as she tries to rebuild her life.

The announcement video shows 28-year-old Kalyn reading Freida McFadden’s novel of the same name before entering a trailer on the film’s set.

The original film, The Housemaid, became a massive hit and grossed more than $400 million globally. Produced on a budget of $35 million, it received positive reviews from critics. The movie currently holds a 74% critics’ score and a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

What to know about Sydney Sweeney’s The Housemaid’s Secret

The Housemaid’s Secret continues Millie’s story after the events of the first film, with her working as a housekeeper despite her criminal record. Based on the novel of the same name by New York Times Best-Selling Author Freida McFadden, it follows Millie as she takes a new housekeeping job for a mysterious employer.

“In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see, only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own,” reads the official synopsis.

Apart from Sweeney and Kalyn, the film stars Kirsten Dunst as Wendy Garrick, while Brittany Snow plays Marybeth. Michele Morrone will portray Enzo, and Paul Anthony Kelly plays Douglas Garrick.

Ghostbusters filmmaker Paul Feig returns to helm the sequel, working from a script by Rebecca Sonnenshine. Sweeney produces the film under her Honey Trap banner alongside Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, and Feig, who will produce for Pretty Dangerous Pictures.

Lionsgate will release the film in theaters on December 17, 2027.
