Nicole Richie and Sofia Richie Grainge aren’t worried about a RSVP.
In fact, the sisters—daughters of Lionel Richie—bypassed the guest list and crashed a Texas couple’s wedding last fall. And now, they’re sliving to tell the moment.
“I can’t believe we are in Vogue for crashing a wedding,” Nicole, 43, wrote on her March 31 Instagram Stories, which features a photo of her and Sofia, 26, happily smiling while at a bar. “But alas, here we are.”
Nicole then joked that the photo, which Sofia also reposted on her Instagram Stories, captured a “great shot” of her gold jewelry. At first glance, this celebratory moment looks like siblings were having a night out on the town. But in reality, the duo showed up uninvited to Mercedes Maddox and Jake Bloomer’s wedding in California last August, and the photo appeared in Vogue’s latest cover of the romantic event.
According to the March 31 feature, Mercedes spotted Nicole and Sofia—who were “guests at the hotel” the ceremony was held in—sneaking into the Rosewood ballroom as she made her second entrance into the wedding reception. And fittingly, the sisters turned their wedding crash moment into a couple’s date night. (Sofia’s husband Elliot Grange, who both share 11-month-old daughter Eloise, and Nicole’s husband Joel Madden, parents to teens Harlow and Sparrow, also chimed in.)
Vogue also reported that Nicole “surprised the couple by getting up onstage and singing.”
As if the photo wasn’t enough evidence, TikToker Jake Shane also shared a video of him and the sisters enjoying the couple’s wedding reception at the time.
“Wedding crashers,” Jake captioned the August 2024 TikTok, which sees the trio excitedly belting the lyrics to ABBA’s “Dancing Queen.” “CONGRATULATIONS MERCEDES AND JAKE!!”

Hilariously enough, this isn’t Sofia’s first wedding crash. She and Elliott also made their surprise presence known at another bride’s ceremony last March, four months before her joint heist with Nicole.
