Show Me Where You Live: Peru | Lake Islands & World's Largest Roadless City | Free Documentary The Volcano Divers of the Borana Tribe: https://youtu.be/A_Hh--ent0M 00:00:00 The Floating Islands of Lake Titicaca At 3,812 meters in the Andes, Lake Titicaca spans 8,300 km² and supports three million people, mainly farmers, fishers, and herders. Some, like the Uros, live on floating islands made of totora reeds rather than on the shore. Philippe sets out to meet them. Aurelio, a Uros descendant, lives on one of 36 inhabited reed islands, a tradition born from his ancestors’ need to escape invaders. Life here is simple and revolves around maintaining the island. Philippe follows Aurelio and his wife to the mainland, where they trade fish for essential goods. He also meets José, a historian preserving Uros heritage. Through them, he realizes that totora is more than just a plant—it is the foundation of the Uros' entire way of life. 00:25:11 Iquitos: A City on the River Lost in the Amazon rainforest, 1,000 km from Lima, Iquitos is the world’s largest city with no road access. In Belén, a flood-prone neighborhood, Philippe explores how its residents adapt to life between the river and the forest. Micher, a carpenter in the dry season and boat taxi driver during floods, welcomes Philippe as he builds a floating house that rises with the water. At the bustling market, the city’s commercial hub, Philippe meets Sylvia, a mother of six whose home was partly destroyed by fire. Tony, a firefighter, works to raise awareness, but Belén’s informal urban planning makes safety a challenge. In the historic center, Philippe meets historian Martin, who sees Belén as essential to Iquitos. As the government attempts to relocate its residents, he argues that without them, the city itself would cease to exist. For Philippe, Iquitos is defined by the resilience and ingenuity of Belén’s people. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Instagram: https://instagram.com/free.documentary/ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI Free Documentary Merch: https://bit.ly/3zpk3mj ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #peru ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Free Documentary is dedicated to bringing high-class documentaries to you on YouTube for free with the latest camera equipment used by well-known filmmakers working for famous production studios.
