Selena Gomez has responded to a controversial comment made by Sam Parker, a former U.S. Senate candidate. The video, in which the actress and singer expressed concern over the impact of recent deportations, sparked a heated reaction from Parker, prompting Gomez to hit back on social media. Now, many are wondering what exactly happened.

In this article, we will delve into details of Gomez’s response to Sam Parker.

Selena Gomez has responded to harsh criticism from Sam Parker, a former Republican Senate candidate, following her emotional video about the impact of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. The singer and actress shared a tearful post on Instagram addressing the deportation crisis, particularly the effect it has on children, in light of a recent nationwide immigration crackdown.

Parker, who ran for Senate in Utah in 2018, didn’t hold back when he posted on X (formerly Twitter). In response to the video, he wrote, “Deport Selena Gomez.” In her Instagram Stories, Gomez quickly hit back at the comment, writing, “Oh, Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat.”

The video, which has since been deleted, depicted Gomez wiping away tears as she spoke about her concern for immigrant families. Expressing her frustration, she said, “All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.” Over the video, she wrote, “I’m sorry,” along with a Mexican flag emoji. (via People)

The post came after a significant immigration crackdown, which saw 956 arrests across the U.S., marking the highest number since Trump’s presidency began. After significant backlash, Gomez expressed her disappointment in a follow-up post. “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people,” she stated.
