Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayScarlett Johansson revealed that she’d like to host an episode of SNL with veteran actor June Squibb. Although it’s still far from materializing, both actors have shared their interest in hosting the late-night live show.
Scarlett Johansson is interested in hosting SNL with June Squibb
Entertainment Tonight interviewed Scarlett Johansson and June Squibb for Johansson’s directorial debut, Eleanor the Great. In the video, the interviewer asked Johansson about her joking about hosting Weekend Update with June. When she was asked how close they are to making it a reality, Johansson excitedly said, “We need a public plea.”
“First of all, I don’t know if it really is a reality because June is doing a play,” she added. Squibb, 95, responded by saying, “I would have to get out for it.” Johansson continued, “They would never ever let her out.”
Squibb was later asked if she’s up for it. She responded positively, saying, “Oh, sure, I would love it. Are you kidding? Saturday Night Live—I’ve watched it for years and years.”
While this is the extent of the news about their possible hosting, they’ve made it abundantly clear that they’d like to host SNL. Meanwhile, SNL is returning for Season 51, where Johansson’s husband, Colin Jost, co-hosts Weekend Update with Michael Che.
While Squibb has never hosted the show, Johansson has been a frequent host on SNL, hosting a total of seven times. This makes her the most frequent female host in the show’s history (via NBC). Furthermore, Johansson has appeared on Weekend Update multiple times, too. Most recently, Che delivered a scripted apology to Johansson for a past joke about her during a prior joke swap segment.
Currently, both actors are busy promoting their latest film, Eleanor the Great. Johansson’s directorial debut follows Eleanor (Squibb), a 94-year-old woman who moves to New York after the death of her best friend. Following a series of misunderstandings, she ends up in a Holocaust survivors’ support group, where she befriends a 19-year-old journalism student, Nin (Erin Kellyman).
