Sabrina Carpenter is dealing with a scary situation.
The “Espresso” singer was granted a temporary restraining order on June 1 against a man she alleged has been stalking her and attempted to get into her home.
According to court documents obtained by E! News, 31-year-old William Applegate is prohibited from coming within 100 yards of Carpenter as well as her sister Sarah Carpenter and her partner George Smith, both of whom live with the Grammy winner at her Hollywood Hills home.
The restraining order also prevents Applegate from approaching Carpenter’s workplace and vehicle.
A hearing is scheduled for June 17, per the docs, at which point the temporary order is set to expire.
E! News reached out to Carpenter's reps for comment but has not heard back. E! has been unable to locate an attorney for Applegate.
Carpenter had filed a request for a civil harassment restraining order against Applegate in Los Angeles County Superior Court on May 29, explaining in court docs obtained by E! News that Applegate had allegedly attempted to get inside her house on May 23.
“It is clear to me that his approach was deliberate, calculated and aggressive, which is deeply alarming,” the 27-year-old wrote in her petition. “Applegate began by trespassing onto my neighbor's property to circumvent and breach the security fencing protecting my home. He then forced his way closer to my residence and advanced directly to my front door.”
She continued, “Once there, Applegate physically grabbed the lever of my front door and forcefully pushed down, actively trying to force his way inside my home without any invitation, permission, or consent whatsoever. He then knocked on the door, after which he rang the doorbell.”

Carpenter said her security team then intervened, at which point Applegate claimed that he knew the “Please Please Please” singer and that she was expecting him. According to her petition, which included pictures that Carpenter said were of Applegate outside her residence as well as a declaration of support from the LAPD, he remained on her property until the Los Angeles Police Department arrived and he was arrested.
The following day, she alleged, he returned, sitting in his car for about two hours before he got closer to her home and was sent away by her security guard. He appeared at her residence once more on May 25 and sat in his car until LAPD responded.
Though the escalation occurred in late May, Carpenter shared in the petition that her security team subsequently determined Applegate’s car first appeared in security footage outside her home on April 20.

“The totality of Applegate's conduct has caused me significant and ongoing fear for my personal safety and the safety of all individuals residing in my home,” Carpenter wrote. “Applegate has repeatedly and willfully violated the sanctity and security of my private residence. His act of physically attempting to open and enter my front door, without invitation, consent, or any lawful basis is among the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced.”
“His delusional insistence that he knows me and was expected by me is indicative of a dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation on me,” she added. “His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress, and I am in fear what he may do if he is not restrained by this Court.”
