What if getting kids to eat could become part of the game?
If you’ve ever begged your child to take “just one more bite” — you’re not alone.
PLAYTE’s creators say they tried everything to get their kids to eat, including stories, games, and fun food shapes. When those approaches didn’t work, they tried something different: taking a simple white plate and drawing a path on it.
Each bite became part of the game.
That idea became PLAYTE: The Game You Play With Food, a collection of game-based plates designed to help turn mealtime into something kids can play, explore, and enjoy.
Meet PLAYTE
PLAYTE combines a familiar mealtime object with the basic elements of a game.
The concept is simple: instead of the plate being just the place where food is served, the plate itself becomes part of the activity.
PLAYTE as a way to make eating part of the game, giving children an opportunity to engage with their food through play.
The creators say:
“kids don’t resist play… they follow it.”
With PLAYTE, the goal is to replace pressure with curiosity and make the experience around the table more positive.
How to Play
The basic gameplay is simple:
1. Roll the oversized die designed to meet applicable U.S. safety requirements.
2. Move your piece across the PLAYTE.
3. Eat the food on your PLAYTE.
That’s it.
There are 9 PLAYTEs, featuring different games with varying levels of difficulty.

A Different Approach to Mealtime
According to the PLAYTE campaign, the product has helped children sit at the table, focus on their plates, and eat by choice.
The campaign also features testimonials from feeding professionals and parents describing their experiences with PLAYTE.
One pediatric dietitian featured in the campaign describes a four-year-old child who agreed to taste five different types of vegetables for the first time while using PLAYTE.
Another parent featured in the campaign describes how their son, who had struggled with staying seated at the dinner table, was able to sit through an entire meal while using his favorite PLAYTE.
These are experiences and testimonials presented by the PLAYTE campaign, rather than independent testing conducted by Everything Board Games.
Recognized for Innovation
The PLAYTE campaign also highlights the product as the winner of the 2026 Global Recognition Award for Innovation.
According to the campaign, the award recognized the founders’ approach to addressing a genuine problem and developing a product intended to work both in clinical settings and at home.
More Than Just a Plate
The idea behind PLAYTE is straightforward: turn mealtime into play.
The plate becomes the game board. The food becomes part of the activity. And children have a playful objective to follow while eating.
For families interested in exploring a different approach to mealtime, PLAYTE offers several themes and difficulty levels designed for different ages.
