Lily Gladstone is taking on another period story. This time, she’s entering the horror genre with a new film set against the Texas-Mexico border.

According to Deadline, Gladstone and Kiowa Gordon have been cast in lead roles for The Curse of Silver, a period horror-western co-directed by Geoff Marslett and Gordon. 

The film reunites the actors with Marslett, who previously worked with them on the 2022 animated sci-fi western Quantum Cowboys.

Liz Cardenas and Ram Getz are the producers of The Curse of Silver, which was selected for the 2026 Gotham Week Project Market. The project is currently being presented to industry buyers during its development phase, with further details regarding casting and financing yet to be disclosed.

What else do we know about The Curse of Silver with Lily Gladstone?

The Curse of Silver is set along the Texas-Mexico border in the aftermath of the American Civil War. The story follows a group of travelers who encounter one another in an isolated frontier region.

As the travelers face mounting tensions, their journey takes a darker turn when they disturb an ancient supernatural presence tied to the land. The film portrays the historical setting of the post-Civil War American frontier with psychological horror and occult elements.

The production plans to use physical frontier locations to create its period setting while adding supernatural elements into the story. Its premise places the characters in a remote environment where historical conflict and an unexplained threat become central to the narrative.

Gladstone is known for her Academy Award-nominated role in Killers of the Flower Moon and also starred in the television series Under the Bridge. Gordon is famous for The Twilight Saga and Dark Winds.

The Curse of Silver continues the creative relationship between Gladstone, Gordon, and Marslett from Quantum Cowboys, an animated science fiction released in 2022.
