Mackenzie Phillips is sharing some insight into her romantic life.

The 66-year-old actress appeared on a new episode of the Getting Naked podcast with Valerie Bertinelli and shared that she has been celibate for 15 years, according to People.

Mackenzie explained that she used to be very extroverted but would then feel exhausted by the end of a busy night out.

“I would get home, and I would have no words left, you know, and so in order to get up and do it again the next day, I had to be alone to recharge,” she shared during the episode. “Which is, by the way, why — am I going to say this out loud? I have been celibate for 15 years.”

Once she said it out loud, Mackenzie continued, “nobody knows this. I’m saying this here.”

She also told Valerie that she didn’t have to cut the revelation out of the episode.

“I’m like, I have had enough sex to last for several lifetimes for several people,” she added. “And the parts of me that were injured or wounded, I can care for them myself.”

The One Day at a Time star said she doesn’t date either.

“I have my little friend in the bedside drawer,” she revealed with a laugh.

Valerie also shared that she sometimes goes “through periods of celibacy.”

She continued, “Like, I’ve been celibate for, I guess, almost two years now. It doesn’t bother me.”
