Surprise! Norah O’Donnell is returning to CBS Mornings.

The 52-year-old news anchor previously co-hosted the morning show, but left in May of 2019. She then went on to host CBS Evening News. She stepped away from that role in January 2025 and became a senior correspondent for CBS News at that time.

Norah O’Donnell will rejoin CBS Mornings on September 8, 2026

Norah O’Donnell will join co-hosts Gayle King and Nate Burleson at the anchor desk at the Bari Weiss-led news network.

“This is a homecoming for Norah. As we all know, for seven years, Norah helped lead CBS This Morning alongside Gayle, creating one of the most memorable partnerships in the history of morning news,” CBS Mornings executive producer Jon Tower apparently said this morning to the staff (via THR). “They have a friendship and chemistry that extends beyond the studio. They know each other, respect each other, and — maybe most importantly — genuinely enjoy each other. To put it simply, I can’t think of a team I’d rather watch navigate the news than Gayle, Nate and Norah.”

When Norah originally left CBS Mornings, there was a rumor regarding the reason why.
