The cast of New Girl just reunited while attending the 2026 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball on Saturday evening (October 10) at The Beehive in Los Angeles.

Jake Johnson, Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris, Max Greenfield, and Damon Wayans Jr all got together and posed for photos on the purple carpet, marking their first red carpet appearance as a cast since the comedy ended over eight years ago.

At the event, Max served as the host an honorary co-chair, while the cast was honored with the Rising Phoenix Award.

If you don’t know, the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball is a charity event, raising funds to help individuals “navigate obstacles on their path to meaningful employment.”

In fact, Max was the one who organized the New Girl reunion, which he first announced on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, though he flubbed the reveal by saying he’s “seen scripts” for a reunion, leading fans to believe it would be an on-screen New Girl reunion.

The show’s creator shut down any chance of that, revealing in late August that there are definitely no scripts.

Of course, at the charity event, the cast talked about Max‘s mix up.

“We especially would like to thank Max, who while organizing this announced that an actual New Girl reunion was happening and he made our lives so very annoying,” Zooey said while the group accepted their award on stage at the event, via THR.

“Now is probably not the most appropriate time to apologize for this but yes, that’s something that happened and I am sorry. It did, however, bring a lot of attention to Chrysalis and what we are doing here tonight, accidentally,” Max added. “When the six of us reunite — six actors, none of whom graduated college except apparently Hannah, which does make a lot of sense; Jake says he did graduate college, which no one believes — but when we come together, remarkably people pay attention and people show up, and we are so grateful that you showed up tonight.”

Earlier in the night on the carpet, Max noted that maybe he shouldn’t have mentioned the reunion on live TV.

“I probably should have just said there is a New Girl reunion and it’s happening on Oct. 10 in support of Chrysalis,” he told THR. “I got excited and then we found an opportunity for a fun pivot and said, ‘Actually, it’s this.’”

“He did such a bad job it was unbelievable,” Jake Johnson added.
