My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 director Shinohara Keisuke recently revealed the reason behind the delay in the release date of the sophomore season. The second chapter is all set to arrive on Crunchyroll on July 5. Based on the manga by writer and illustrator Shinichi Fukuda, Season 1 of this popular anime became instantly successful following its release in January 2022.

Shinohara Keisuke says writing My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 ‘was really difficult’

Director Shinohara Keisuke recently attended the screening of My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 and spoke about the delay in its release date.

The screening took place on June 29 at Ikebukuro Humax Cinemas. According to a report by Animate Times, Keisuke stated that the writing process for Season 2 was difficult. He said, “Season 2 was really difficult…Season 1 just happened to work because the interesting story by Fukuda-sensei and the length of the anime just happened to overlap, so writing the script for Season 2 was difficult.”

He further stated that he wanted to stay true to the manga and conveyed, “I thought the ending was very impactful from the first episode of the original. Basically, I’m conscious of staying true to the original. Fukuda-sensei is good at concluding episodes.”

Moreover, Keisuke also urged fans to look forward to Season 2 of My Dress-Up Darling and said, “The number of works appearing in the play is greater than in Season 1. I think the effort that went into making each one is reflected on the screen, so please keep an eye out in the future.”

According to Crunchyroll, the synopsis of Season 2 reads, “When Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo met, they grew close over their love for cosplay. Through interacting with classmates and making new cosplay friends, Marin and Wakana’s world keeps growing. New developments arise as Marin’s love for Wakana continues to be filled with endless excitement. In their ever-expanding world, Marin and Wakana’s story of cosplay and thrills continues!”
