[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Based around barrier building, the new Murad Cellular Hydration collection focusses on keeping skin healthy with hydration, fatty acids and peptides. I would be sorely tempted to try the entire range (Cellular Hydration Repair Cream and Cellular Hydration Repair Serum) but I’ve got other commitments at the moment that means I am using a different brand. However, I have given the Cellular Hydration Repair Mask a run for its money (and it’s quite a lot of money at £55) and it’s rather impressive. Without directly saying that Cellular Hydration is for mature skin, I feel that’s the category it will suit best.

Despite this being an overnight mask – one of my pet hates because they’re usually just moisturisers marketed as masks – I put the hours in and applied it early evening thinking I could take it off before bed if necessary because who wants to lie on a greasy pillow? This proved to be a wise thing to do – and just flagging up why reviews are so important – because it takes a while to settle into the skin. When I say a while, I mean a couple of hours before it stops feeling tacky. When that’s done, it settles into a sort of gentle film that I would certainly say does the job of keeping moisture in overnight. Murad Cellular Hydration Repair Mask is also intensely soothing – I usually wake up with a bit of redness but not today.

The key ingredients are Bilberry fatty acids omega 3 and 6 which (reportedly) nudge the skin into repair mode), hibiscus extract and willowherb. It’s rare, for me at least, to see any actual ‘plumping’ from products but I can say that I did experience it this morning. I’m impressed that I got to start my day with skin in remarkably good order that I could apply my make up immediately over. Oh, you probably will want to rinse off the mask in the morning with a warm, damp cloth but even with doing that you will feel your skin is soft and well hydrated. At £55 it’s a considered purchase but it’s something I’d now consider if I really want my skin to look great the next day and as a skin ‘treat’ rather than every day or even every week. While I’m here, I wanted to flag up one of the unsung heroes from the Murad brand – Exasoothe – I saw a friend recently who was having a big rosacea flare up (is rosacea on the up?
