Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayFollowing the news of Tom Hardy’s dismissal, MobLand Season 3 must find his replacement. The show could survive if it casts one of these three actors.
3 actors who could replace Tom Hardy in MobLand
Hardy will not be returning to MobLand if there is a third season. According to Matt Belloni of Puck, Paramount, the studio behind MobLand, has opted not to “pick up Hardy” for Season 3 due to his “clashes” with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser during Season 2’s production. The report also mentions that Hardy constantly attempted to change dialogue, gave script notes, arrived late to set, and disliked the idea of the show becoming an ensemble with Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
MobLand has not officially been renewed for Season 3. However, the British crime drama is arguably Paramount+‘s most popular non-Taylor Sheridan show. The Season 1 premiere also broke the streamer’s record for the largest global series launch ever. If Season 2 achieves similar success, Season 3 will likely happen. If that’s the case, Paramount will need to replace Hardy, who stars as fixer Harry Da Souza. Here are three actors who could do the job.
Jack O’Connell
Jack O’Connell is in his villain era. O’Connell played the Irish vampire Remmick in Sinners and Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal in 28 Years Later and its sequel, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. O’Connell garnered significant praise for his captivating performances and, in The Bone Temple’s case, he stole the show.
Since playing those two characters, O’Connell’s profile has increased significantly. He is set to appear in three 2027 movies: Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, A Quiet Place Part III, and Ink. MobLand casting a rising star like O’Connell would be an excellent choice.
Gerard Butler
Gerard Butler is one of Hollywood’s most reliable action stars. The Scottish actor broke out as King Leonidas in 2006’s 300. He parlayed that success into starring roles in three Olympus Has Fallen movies, two Greenland films, and the How to Train Your Dragon movies — animated and live-action.
Butler looks like a mob fixer thanks to his Hulk-like presence at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. Butler’s experience in the Den of Thieves movies and Copshop proves he’s more than capable of holding his own in crime sagas. Frankly, a role on MobLand would be an ideal scenario for Butler.
James McAvoy
James McAvoy is ready for his next act. The Scottish actor played Professor Charles Xavier in four X-Men movies over nearly a decade. In between those X-Men movies, McAvoy made memorable turns in Atomic Blonde, It Chapter Two, and two M. Night Shyamalan movies, Split and Glass.
Even though he played a psychopath in Speak No Evil, the role showcased McAvoy’s intense and physical side as an actor, something that Hardy has become known for. This physicality is something that could play well in MobLand.
Who do you want to see replace Hardy in MobLand Season 3? Are there any actors we missed?
