A famous Marvel star has shut down rumors about him playing Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter. Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the MCU, addressed the speculation directly in a recent interview.

Paul Bettany’s latest update on whether he could play Voldemort in Harry Potter reboot

Known for portraying Vision in the MCU, Paul Bettany has been the subject of online speculations lately. He was rumored to be taking on the role of the Dark Lord in HBO’s upcoming TV show. However, the actor has now denied all the rumors with a simple answer.

When asked if there’s truth to the rumors, on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany revealed, “I’ve heard nothing about that through any official channels at all. No. That’s just a rumor.”

Talking about how he’s already spent over a decade doing an intensive, makeup-heavy role as Vision, he added, “Maybe that’s enough prosthetics for me in my life, you know. It’s been a lot.”

When asked if he’s thought about doing the role in case he gets a call, the actor simply said, “No, not yet. I haven’t. I mean because it’s literally a rumor.”

Bettany will next be seen in his own standalone Marvel TV series on Disney+, titled VisionQuest. It will act like the final part of the trilogy that first began with WandaVision (2021) and extended with Agatha All Along (2024).

VisionQuest’s showrunner is Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard). James Spader, who played Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, will reprise his role with this series opposite Bettany. Other cast members include Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire, and Ruaridh Mollica.

Bettany was recently seen in Amadeus, a mini TV series from Sky Studios, where he played the role of Antonio Salieri. Before that, he also appeared in a 2024 movie called Here, helmed by Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis.

As for VisionQuest, it’s set to premiere on October 14, 2026, on Disney+.
