“Married at First Sight” star Ryan de Nino has reportedly died at the age of 40.

A family member told TMZ on Friday that the reality TV personality passed away “suddenly” in New Jersey “earlier this week.”

The reality star, seen above with Jessica Castro on the series, died “suddenly” in New Jersey, a source told the outlet.

His sister, Melissa DeNino, took to Facebook with a tribute to the TV star, writing that he “was so damn funny and witty.”

She added, along with childhood photos, “He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He had a huge heart, always. I can’t explain what it’s like to lose a sibling.”

“Someone who’s been there from the beginning and shares the same memories. No matter what we were going through, I loved him immensely. Life as I know it will never be the same.”

De Nino appeared on the series’ second season, tying the knot with Jessica Castro in 2014 and deciding to stay together after their trial period.

However, the relationship didn’t work out, and the former couple wound up parting ways in 2015, shortly after the season aired.

According to ABC News, in June 2015, De Nino shared a partial image of a restraining order Castro had filed against him, saying it “disgusted” him and had him “in awe.”

At the time, Castro’s attorney told the news outlet that De Nino allegedly made threats against his co-star and her family members and insisted that their priority was protection from “all threats to her safety and well-being.”

The show’s producer, Kinetic Content, issued a statement at the time reading in part, “Our thoughts are with these individuals, and as always we have offered each of them significant aftercare resources.

“We wish them nothing but the best, and hope they have a bright future ahead of them.”

Castro has since moved on, and is now raising a son, Sergio Jr., whom she welcomed in 2021.
