Oscar Nominations 2025: Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Angelina Jolie and More Snubs and Surprises

Kylie Jenner was missing a valued member of her glam squad on 2025 Oscars night.

The Kardashians star's hairstylist Jesus Guerrero passed away last month at age 34 and, according to her makeup artist Ariel Tejada, had been looking forward to seeing Kylie at her first-ever Academy Awards with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet.  (See all the Oscars arrivals here.)

"Today was really hard without you, but I know how excited you were for Ky to attend the Oscars," Ariel wrote on Instagram March 2, sharing a photo of Kylie in her black Miu Miu gown with her hair styled in loose waves. "I felt your energy guiding us today."

Ariel—who collaborated with Jesus on multiple occasions—added in his tribute, "I hope we did you proud. we love you forever."

Indeed, both Ariel and Kylie had a close bond with the late hair guru.

"Family is not always just assigned at birth sometimes they are chosen and you were my chosen family," Ariel shared on Feb. 22, describing Jesus as "my Anchor, my Rock"

"There’s a lot to learn from Jesus, not only his insane talent of which most you have come to know him for," he continued, "but also his humility, his compassion, his resilience, his drive and love for life and all the Good and happiness that he brought into every room he walked in and every life he impacted with his brilliant soul."

Likewise, the loss has affected Kylie in an unimaginable way.

"Jesus was more than my friend—he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support,” she wrote in a Feb. 25 Instagram post. “I don’t know how I would have made it through the last almost decade without him by my side. He had a way of making even the heaviest days feel lighter.”

The Kylie Cosmetics founder continued, "The pain of losing you is just unbearable and I don’t know how to move forward without you but I know great grief is born only of great love, and I loved you so much."

In fact, Kylie said "sleeping has been the hardest" in the wake of Jesus' death, sharing a screenshot of a seven-hour FaceTime call with Ariel on her Instagram Stories Feb. 28.

She added, "I love you @makeupbyariel."
