Katy Perry isn’t the only dreamer in her family.
In fact, before deciding to travel on Blue Origin’s upcoming mission to space, the “Firework” singer ran the out of this world idea by her fiancé Orlando Bloom.
“We respect each other so much,” Katy—who shares Daisy Dove, 4, with the actor—said on SiriusXM’s Hits 1The Morning Mash Up March 3. “So we want to get input from each other, and he is also all about the journey.
And Orlando’s support for the mission to space isn’t a surprise to the “Roar” artist, as the 48-year-old—who has been engaged to the singer since 2019 –is always up for exploring something new.
“That's one thing, I really, really admire about him,” she said. “He’s a seeker.”
While Orlando won’t be joining Katy on this trip, she’ll still be in great company. It was announced last week that Gayle King, Jeff Bezos' fiancée Lauren Sánchez—who assembled the team taking flight—as well as former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn will also be going to space this spring.
The women will travel 62 miles above the earth to the Kármán line—the spot that separates the planet's atmosphere from space—giving Katy a chance to explore something new.

“Going to space now to explore something way bigger than me and I'm just so interested in astrophysics and just the engineering of it all,” the Grammy nominee said. “I'm just so humbled and blown away and excited and I've got butterflies. It's really the theme of my tour.”
For Katy, accepting the mission was an easy choice, as she said the signs were there.
“It's the theme of my year so far. My mother calls me Feather,” she explained. “She does. She's called me Feather my whole life and when they asked me to be a part of this launch, I researched it. I looked at the capsule and I saw, I opened up the YouTube video, and it was a emblem of a feather and I was like, ‘What other sign do I need? My mother calls me Feather. I was meant to fly,’ And I'm just so excited for the perspective I'll gain and for the stories I can tell after I see that curvature.”
