Karen Huger has checked into rehab. The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 reunion was expected to bring drama, resolutions, and significant revelations from the cast. However, one notable absence from the reunion taping raised eyebrows across the Bravo fan base.

Here’s what we know about why Huger skipped the reunion and the steps she’s taking to address recent challenges.

What happened to Karen Huger?

Karen Huger, a cast member of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP), was recently found guilty of driving under the influence (DUI) following a car crash in March 2024 in Potomac, Maryland. Huger has since entered a private recovery program, missing the RHOP Season 9 reunion taping of the show. Her attorney plans to appeal the verdict.

The crash happened on March 19, 2024, when Huger’s Maserati hit a median, crosswalk sign, and parking sign before stopping off the road. She was charged with DUI, DWI, and other offenses but was acquitted of reckless driving. Prosecutors presented bodycam footage during her trial, which showed Huger visibly intoxicated and slurring her words while interacting with police.

Following her December 2024 conviction, Huger’s attorney, A. Scott Bolden, expressed disappointment with the jury’s verdict but affirmed their respect for the decision. Bolden emphasized their intention to appeal and pursue justice on Huger’s behalf. Sentencing is scheduled for January 29, 2025, with Huger facing up to two years in prison.

Karen Huger’s decision to enter rehab reflects her commitment to addressing personal issues amid legal and professional challenges. Her absence from the RHOP reunion sparked speculation about her future on the show, as attendance is often considered crucial for cast retention. Huger’s team, however, publicly supported her choice, citing it as a step toward personal growth.

As one of RHOP’s original stars since 2016, Huger’s legal troubles have drawn significant public attention. Her role as the self-proclaimed Grand Dame of Potomac remains uncertain, with both her appeal and sentencing still pending.
