Columbus Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau‘s widow Meredith recently got three tattoos, mixed with both ink and his ashes, to honor her late husband’s memory. The NHL star’s untimely demise last year in a bike accident shocked the sporting world.

Here’s everything to know about Meredith Gaudreau’s wife’s tattoo.

How Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith honored him with new tattoos

Johnny Gaudreau’s wife Meredith honored his memory by adorning herself with three cremation tattoos. The word “forever” was etched on the side of her left ring finger, while the names of their children, Noa Harper and Johnny Edward were put on her forearm.

Tattoo artist Tay Nicole Clinch shared the background and reasoning behind Meredith’s tattoos in a recent Instagram post, mentioning that Meredith consulted her a month back. She admitted that she’d never done cremation tattoos before, but Meredith insisted on Clinch being her choice of artist and opened up about her husband’s story. “It’s safe to say I got pretty emotional when I’d come to realize this was a story I had already knew of and was brought to tears over in the past,” Clinch wrote.

The tattoo artist further revealed that she “made an exception” for Meredith, as she usually would not do cremation tattoos. She further mentioned, “Safety was prioritized. A medical professional was consulted and gave clearance, ensuring this decision was made with care and informed guidance.” Meredith expressed her appreciation for Clinch in the comments section. “Obsessed with them,” she wrote. “Perfectly done by the best and coolest girl.”

However, this is not the first time Meredith got a tattoo connected to her late husband. She first got a signature of his tattoo during a visit to Calgary last month, where Johnny Gaudreau’s two former teams, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames, faced off in a match that paid tribute to him (via People).

Meredith’s husband Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, aged 29, were killed in a bike accident in August 2024. They were reportedly struck by a drunk driver in New Jersey on the eve of their sister Katie’s wedding.
