Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayWith the much-awaited Tron: Ares set to hit theaters in two days, Jared Leto has come out to shed light on his titular role in the movie. Leto, who continues his foray into different sci-fi franchises with Tron, provided an in-depth analysis of his character in the Joachim Rønning-helmed film in a recent interview, wherein he explained how he prepared to play an artificially-generated intelligence program with no backstory.
Jared Leto says his Tron: Ares character was ‘all about efficiency’
The Academy Award winner opened up about his one-of-a-kind role in Tron: Ares, stating that portraying the titular character was like embodying a ‘stoic samurai warrior.’
“In some ways, it’s easier when you have a lot to grab a hold of, and I am used to exploring, kind of, some of the more colorful aspects of character,” Jared Leto told GamesRadar+, while alluding to the absence of a backstory for Ares. He then explained his understanding of the super-intelligent entity, noting, “Ares is all about efficiency; I think about him as, like, a stoic samurai warrior. You know, not a wasted movement?”
“He’s really not very expressive and probably not the first person to talk about his feelings, especially at the beginning of the film, but then he goes on a journey,” the former Joker actor remarked before adding, “He starts to open up. Obviously, there’s only so much time you have in a big movie like this to explore the nuances of characters, where you have to kind of explain a lot. But we did talk so much about the discovery process for Ares, and what that must have been like to have these human experiences for the very first time. That was a lot of fun. I found it really exciting.”
Jared Leto portrays the leading character in Tron: Ares, which revolves around mankind’s first interaction with AI beings. Also featuring the likes of Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jeff Bridges, and Cameron Monaghan, among others, the standalone Tron sequel is on track to premiere on the big screen on October 10, 2025.
