Jon Favreau’s upcoming Oswald The Lucky Rabbit series casts Ravi Cabot-Conyers and more
The Oswald The Lucky Rabbit series, conceptualized by Iron Man director Jon Favreau, has recruited Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen as the three leads of the much-awaited Disney series.
Cabot-Conyers, who gained global acclaim for his turn as Wim in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, joins the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cast as Jake. He is a kind middle school student who strongly believes in the merit of hard work. Meanwhile, Harris will take on the mantle of Jen, a strategic yet artistic student, with Allen portraying Taylor, a careful middle schooler who tries his best not to let his friends down.
Notably, Allen recently proved his acting talent to the world through his portrayal of a young Oswald Cobblepot in the Colin Farrell-led The Penguin. According to Deadline, while the three will lead the human cast for the Oswald The Lucky Rabbit series, Disney has yet to reveal the voice actors in the show.
Created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927, Oswald was imagined as Disney’s flagship star, before a contract dispute saw Universal Pictures acquire the rights to the character in 1928. In response, Disney decided to come up with a new character to pose as its mascot, giving birth to the eternal Mickey Mouse in the process.
To cue a grand return for its legacy character, Disney has decided to hand the reins of the Oswald The Lucky Rabbit series to Jon Favreau. He has already helmed numerous hits for the House of Mouse, including 2016’s The Jungle Book, 2019’s The Lion King, as well as Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
While Disney has confirmed the principal cast for the Oswald The Lucky Rabbit series, it has yet to attach an official release date to the project.
