The Girl Meets World showrunner’s tough methods made Sabrina Carpenter and Rowan Blanchard cry. The revelation offers a rare glimpse into the reality of growing up on a TV set. The teen coming-of-age sitcom aired on Disney Channel between 2014 and 2017.

Girl Meets World producer claims creator made Sabrina Carpenter cry

As reported by Variety, A Girl Meets World producer has revealed that the show’s creator pushed Sabrina Carpenter and Rowan Blanchard to the point of tears with his demanding approach on set.

The disclosure surfaced while the Boy Meets World cast opened up about growing up on set and the challenges they faced years later when they transitioned to the spinoff, Girl Meets World. In the series, Rowan Blanchard starred as upbeat Riley Matthews. Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter played her rule-breaking but fiercely loyal best friend Maya Hart.

In Doc Meets World, Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong’s new documentary that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, the trio discusses why they chose to revisit the classic sitcom’s world 14 years after the original series ended.

In a conversation with Fishel, producer Frank Pace reflected on collaborating with the show’s creator, Michael Jacobs. “Michael was fun for me to work with because he was a challenge. He was a nightmare for me to work with because he was a challenge. Same reason,” he said. Pace also brought up the iconic initial table read for Girl Meets World that he still remembers clearly.

While Fishel admitted that she buried the memory, Pace reminded her of what he says happened. Pace highlighted that she had buried the memory because Jacobs had been “horrible.” According to him, Jacobs tore into the young cast for failing to live up to the original show’s legacy, leaving both Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter in tears.

Meanwhile, Strong, who took the director’s chair for 18 episodes, said that he thrived behind the camera. However, he also added, “There’s a lot that I owe to Michael and that I will always cherish, but I needed to cut him out of my life, let him know that I don’t condone his behavior.”
