The final trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3 has been released. The footage previews war, bloodshed, betrayal, and, of course, plenty of dragons.

House of the Dragon is the HBO Max TV show that serves as a prequel to Game of Thrones. Created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal, the first season of House of the Dragon premiered on the streaming platform in 2022, while the second season arrived in 2024. The series was also renewed for a third season in June 2024, while a fourth and seemingly final season is in development.

What do we see in the House of the Dragon Season 3 trailer?

The House of the Dragon Season 3 trailer sees Westeros being decimated by armies fighting in the name of Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targaryen and Tom Glynn-Carney’s Aegon II Targaryen. Following a Season 2 finale that left many fans of the show disappointed after a battle was teased and then used as a cliffhanger, the Season 3 trailer assures viewers that won’t be the case this time around.

The logline for the show reads, “Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.”

In addition to D’Arcy and Glynn-Carney, the cast of House of the Dragon Season 3 includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, James Norton, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, Abubakar Salim, Tom Cullen, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane.

House of the Dragon Season 3 debuts on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, June 21, at 9 p.m. ET. New episodes of the eight-episode season will continue to be released weekly until the finale arrives on August 9.
