Last Halloween my youngest daughter wanted to paint a birdhouse. It was the end of August, and she’s a big fan of Halloween, so that’s what I chose for mine. Here’s how I made my Halloween themed fairy house.

In the photo above, you can see one of my little ghosts swaying in the breeze. This is out on my front porch, but it’s not weatherproof, so I made sure it’s not where the ran can get to it.

Supplies I Used

You can get wooden birdhouses at most craft stores, dollar stores, and big box stores. I honestly don’t remember where I got mine BUT they have the exact one I used here.

For paint, my favorite is Americana acrylics. They go on smooth and dry quickly. They have a really nice assortment of colors too.

As for the mini pumpkins, I have a big bag of them I picked up from a craft store, same with the little birdie on the roof. There’s usually a section in craft stores with tiny embellishments for use in fairy gardens.

I have all kinds of different faux flowers left over from previous projects. This black flower had petals that were perfect for the roof tiles!

cutting dried up baby wipe

I said I would explain the baby wipe, so here it is. I keep baby wipes in my craft room because they are ideal for getting acrylic paint off my hands! I dried one of them out then cut squares from it to use for the little ghosts that hang from the tree.

All I did was wad up little bits of the baby wipe for the head, then wrap string around for the neck.

As you can see there of lots of little details. I made a wreath out of faux purple and yellow flowers, stacked pumpkins on moss, and added more faux flowers around the bottom.

I hope you like it! If you have any questions, please leave a comment below. Happy Halloween!
